Expecially the later models. I notice that the GMT Master ist one of the few Rolex similar to the Datejust as it comes not only with an Oyster bracelet. From the beginning, i.e. from the 60s, it also came with a Jubilee bracelet. Or did it not come until the 70s? No, it did start in the early 60s. The golden one came in the early 60s. Actually, GMT's were sold without exception with styinless steel Oyster bracelets. The GMT always had a slightly thinner case, a smaller crown and was consistently waterproof up to 100 meters, whis is quite sufficient for sporting needs. Crown protection. These watches are made for everyday use. These are no classic pilot watches, but a lot of people who travel like to wear them constantly and it is one of the most sought after watches nowadays. The Submariner is still demand, but the GMT can be used in so many areas and it is a marvelous travel companion. It is not quite so high. You can easily wear a shirt over it. And through customization of the blue-and-red, which was possible in the past, - nowadays, bezel are no longer exchangeable - but they have more charm and expression than a completely black or blue bezel. One does need some expertise with this one, it would be all right to mistaken. Apart grom the red GMT hand and the bezel, there is no way to tell. An amateur wouldn't spot it. If you had to decide on a watch, which would you like to wear every day? I would take the pussy Galore on Monday. Tuesdays the Tropic. On Wednesdays, I would put on the gold with black dial. On Thursday the white-gold with the blue-red bezel. On friday the brilliant dial. For the disco. And on the weekend I would relax and wear a fat lady. It is extremly difficult to say which watch I would take. In the end, I'd probably like to have them all. It's a tough choice. They could have thrown out another 250,000 units of the 5980 on a strap, but they just done. I mean, that's just the way it is. But if you're looking to pick up one of these, you need to have either a really good relationship with your local AD or just be willing to pay a little bit over premium.
